São Salvador da Bahia de Todos os Santos was founded in 1549 and has since been known by many names:
for the Brazilians it is simply Salvador or Bahia
(which was later used to name the whole state of which Salvador is now the capital),
for many others it is only Pelorinho (the historical center of Salvador and UNESCO heritage since 1985),
for others it is Barra (Salvador's seaside) for others it is synonymous
with one of the most extraordinary Carnivals in the world and
the Verao music festival. For the two of us, friends since college, it was love at first sight with Salvador and its people...
... From our small town in northern Italy in 2008 we arrived in Salvador, the third most populous city in Brazil (after São Paulo and
Rio de Janeiro) and we were fascinated by its colors, its history, the warmth of its people,
its African heart and rhythm that you can experience in every corner in any Capoeira performances or in the vivid Candomblé ceremonies...

Fully absorbed in the sunset colors over the bay of Todos os Santos,
Ilha de Itaparica, Igreja Senhor Do Bonfim and Forte de Sao Marcelo,
we have not resisted to Bahia's secret magic...
We bought a portion of an old historic house in rua do Carmo 70,
in the center of Pelorinho, located between the Convento do Carmo and Plano inclinado
leading to the Mercado Modelo and the port of Salvador de Bahia.
With a careful renovation that had been lasting for almost four years,
we have brought the two apartments back to new life, with large bright windows to enjoy every day the view of the
beautiful warm and the colorful sunsets on the Bahian sea. The main entrance is located in the historic center of Pelorinho,
while the large windows on the opposite side of the apartments overlook the sea. The renovation was long and difficult,
but it was worth it!
